Medical Surgical Nursing Lab

Medical Surgical Nursing lab is designed to assist student in developing expertise and in depth knowledge in the field of medical surgical nursing. Nursing is an art and science that needs a lot of practice. Medical surgical nursing lab. is the practical area of the students, where they perform all nursing procedures prior to the exposure to the clinical field. Medical surgical lab aims at making students proficient in assessing and caring for adult patients suffering from various medical surgical disorders.

The lab is equipped with all sophisticated equipment and manikins to facilitate transition to actual clinical settings. A large collection of nursing models, manikins, instruments, comfort devices are available for full practical simulation of patient care . Medical surgical lab. provides safe training environment for all nursing students in practical courses. The lab has advanced CPR dummy, procedure dummies and infusion arms for teaching the student required skills Different surgical instruments such as hemostats, forceps, retractors etc are there to teach general trolley set up in O.T and for trolley setting for specific procedures.  Students learn to perform and employ emergency case management in simulated clinical scenarios. It provides hands on learning experiences specific to course objectives as directed by nursing curriculum.

• Oral, Tracheal and Endotraceal suctioning
• Endotracheal incubation
• Tracheotomy insertion and care
• Oxygen administration and use of AMBU bag
• Nasogastric tube insertion, feeding through nasogastric tube
• Colostomy care and irrigation
• Urinary catheterization
• IV cannulation and infusion therapy
• Central venous line insertion and CVP monitoring
• Nebulization
• Wound dressing etc
